VIII Women's Golf Clubs
Women's Golf Clubs
Most golf clubs in Scotland are now mixed. Some have Ladies sections and others simply admit women as equal members. It means that in some clubs there are separate Ladies competitions and at other clubs women play in the general competitions.
Entry to the Royal & Ancient GC is by invitation only, but the Royal Musselburgh GC (1774), first sponsor of women's golf in January 1811, would welcome applications.
Of the 18 oldest golf societies, which were originally male societies, the following are still active and now mixed golf clubs.
